Supporting Urological Care
on the Mid North Coast
The Jim Bruce Urology & Prostate Cancer Trust has been established by the Bruce Family for the Urological Care and Treatment and in the fight against Prostate Cancer. Donations go towards ensuring that anyone requiring urological care will benefit not only from the excellent specialists and medical staff in Port Macquarie, but by value adding to the care that they provide.
"Prostate Cancer is just as common in men as breast cancer is in women"
The Donations Philosophy of the Jim Bruce Foundation is to provide private funding for Urological diseases in the Mid North Coast. The goals are to:
- Raise Public Awareness and Education of Urological Diseases
- Facilitate Medical and Nurse Training in Urology
- Fund Medical Equipment purchases
- Enhance Patient and Carer Support
- Promote Urological Research
Whilst Prostate Cancer is a worthy cause for a charitable organisation, the Jim Bruce Trust is supporting not just Prostate Cancer but Urological Diseases as a whole. Urology is a mystery to many people, although once you become aware of the diseases and conditions that are treated by a Urologist it should be much clearer.
Urology is concerned with the treatment of the male and female urinary tract as well as the male reproductive organs. This includes the kidney, ureter, bladder, prostate, urethra, testes and penis.
Cancers can occur in all of the organs mentioned above. Collectively they make up a large proportion of cancers.
In younger patients, bed-wetting, testicular cancer and inherited diseases of the urinary tract are frequent urological problems.
Kidney stones are very common and can occur in all age groups and are treated by urologists. Male fertility problems and vasectomies also come under urological care.
Incontinence (leakage of urine) is a massive problem that no one freely admits to. It affects women after childbirth, the elderly, people with multiple sclerosis and other neurological diseases. Simple things can make a massive difference to people’s quality of life.
As you can see, Urology is a lot more than prostate cancer.
So by supporting the Jim Bruce Urology and Prostate Cancer Trust you are not just supporting prostate cancer but a broad range of diseases that affect all age groups.
Help us improve the lives of people suffering with these conditions in your area!
